Here are photos some of my friends.

Where a name is written in bold type, it means they are being introduced for the first time on these pages.

    Here are some people who also studied at Highgate School.

    Andy main interests are opera, golf and football. Phil is also keen on football. Darius does not like football at all; he now lives in Spain. Charlie worked at Price Waterhouse Coopers before quitting a few years ago.
 
    Niall has been working in the volunteer sector. He used to to like clubbing, 'industrial' rock bands and roleplaying games. He is now a family man and will soon be moving to Newcastle.

    Here is Maria dressed as the White Rabbit from Alice in Wonderland. This photo was taken at her 30th birthday party.

     On the right is Dennis Duncan, who also went to Highgate School, and did his degree at Manchester (he was doing his final year, when I was doing my first year). He is now doing a PhD at the University of London on Harry Matthews.
    Also in the photo are Claire Alexander, his partner and an artist, and Mia, their daughter was born in December 2008. she was just three weeks old when this photo was taken.

On the left is, Zoe Sorkin (a.k.a. 'Laut'). She studied English literature at the University of Canterbury. I received an unexpected marriage proposal from her in 1997. I accepted, but arrangements are still up in the air!
    On the right is Fran Hector, who went to school with Pam, my sister.  She now lives in Barcelona.

Simon Walker with his son, Sean. Simon studied History at Cambridge. He then did a law conversion course before working in London. He now lives in Liverpool as teacher and coaches children football at the weekends.

On the left here is Helen.

The man just inside the house is Nick Newport. He studied history at Manchester University before working at Standard Chartered Bank.

Once again, Sean is not smiling . In the Santa Claus costume is Simon's second daughter, Anastasia.

Simon's children have all grown significatly since these pics were taken.

    Some friends from Manchester University.

From left to right: Tom Baggs, Nick Brown, Ed Rowland and Ben 'Jarmen' Ling.

Tom comes from Aberyswith in Wales. He studied biochemistry at UMIST before studying law. In recent years he has accompanied me on some skiing holidays.

    Nick is a mathematician and did a PhD Poiseille flow (that's laminar flow in viscous fluids) at Imperial College, London. He is a good cricketer is now doing another degree in sports science in Newcastle.

    Ed used to work at a Disney office in Hammersmith, London, doing the bare necessities (ha-ha). He now works for a bank called HSC (I think) in Windsor. in 2001 he stepped onto the stage with me, and sang in the chorus of Princess Ida.

   Here I am in The Grandby pub on the evening of graduation day. I've been spilling beer on my shirt.

    Sitting with me are several mathematics graduates. From left to right Ed (again), Dave Onley and Hitesh Patel. The man behind me wiggling his tongue is Simon Howlett.

    Dave was a member of rowing club with me during my second year (I tried it for a couple of terms, but it was rather a heavy commitment). Dave now  works in the armed forces.

    The man with the Kirk Douglas hairstyle is Adam Watson.

    Adam comes from Middlesborough. heeded a maths degree at Manchester, before moving to Farnham in Surrey where he worked for an IT firm named FlourGS. He likes rock music, although there are discrepancies between our respective tastes.

On the left is Neil Chatterjee. Neil works as an optician in Manchester. He likes fast cars, computer games and 'drum and bass' music.

    Here's Matt Smith (a.k.a. 'Smithy'). He comes from Nottingham and supports Nottingham Forest.
    He attained a PhD in the Mathematics department at Manchester involving complex matrices (yuck!).

The man on the left is Andrew B. He did a physics degree at Surrey University and the Masters at Manchester University.   He now works for SunGard in Oxford.

These two guys, David MacCoy and Chris Jones also studied physics (and drinking) at Manchester.

    Here are couple of people who were on the telecommunications course at UCL

    These two suave gentlemen and Vuk Pasic and Simon Banks.

    Vuk comes from Sarejevo in Bosnia. He later worked in London for Energis, a telecoms service provider, on their ATM switching systems. he now works for the Virgin Media Group.

    Simon did his degree at UMIST and did a PhD UCL on Synthetic aperture sonar. He later started up his own company, 'Bloomsbury DSP', and has now started up at another company.

    Here is a more recent snap of Simon with, with his girlfriend, Vivian Wong.

    Here's a photo taken at UCL after our graduation ceremony . The two guys in the middle are Giancarlo Gavioli & Nicolaos Vardalachos (a.k.a The Bodyguard).

    Here is Vuk with his wife Tanja, and their two daughters, Enya and Rhea.

    This sexy man is Nicolaos Choulakis, from Athens. We used to call him  'Speedy' because he wore a motorcycle jacket even though he didn't own a motorcycle!

    Here's the geordie, Phil Beadling, pretending to be a barman.

    He is a clever chap, and got a distinction in his MSc in telecommunications. He worked for the Canadian telecoms giants, Nortel Networks for here their before working for the Royal Bank of Scotland in the city. He now works for Dresdner Kleinwort.

    Here's Caroline, Phil's sister, who works for 'Air products' supplying cold liquids.

    Here's Marina Krikanova, from Moscow. She previously studied nursing in London and has now studying medecine in Auckland, New Zealand.
