Will O'Brien

I was born January
30th 1976 and
was brought up in North London. I was educated at Highgate
School. I did degree in physics with astrophysics at Manchester
University. I then return to London and attained an Masters in
telecommunications at University College London. In 2001 started
working at Cryogenic Ltd., where I designed at tested superconducting
magnets and other
low-temperature instruments (not freezing bodies!). In the autumn
of 2006 I started
doing a PhD at Cranfield University. I investigated the RAP
process, a plasma etching process for the fine figuring (smoothing) of
large telescope optics (the large mirrors that make up the world's
largest reflecting telescopes).
I do quite a lot of singing. I have performed in
several operas including Cosi Fan Tutte, Don Giovanni, La Boheme,
Carmen and The Tales of Hoffmann. I am also passionate about
astronomy. You may look at some of my photographs. I have
travelled to France, Italy, Spain, Japan, New Zealand, Laos and
China. if you wish to read about any of these trips, please go to
the holidays page. I
enjoy
listening to rock music, in particular to prog rock.
